Nan Provincial Boat Racing
Boat racing in Nan began more than a hundred years ago. Initiatively, the races might have been as competitive games during the Songklan Day when the rule of Nan left his residence. Later boat race began to be held during festivals such as on the food lots ceremony (Boon Salakkapat), a monastic fair, the temple organized boat racing by sending invitations true believers for joining the race. The purpose was to gain the harmony and fun for participants.

At present, the main annual boat races in Nan are held during the robe giving and Tan Khuay Salakkapat offering to Wat Phathat Chang Kham, held annually after Buddhist Lent, which falls at the end of October or the beginning of November every year, a boat racing festival takes place in the Nan River in front of the provincial community. This is regarded as a big fair where several long boats, each carved out of a single tree trunk, decorated all over with various coloured. It is promoted by the Province as an annual fair in Nan.

    Tan Kuay Salakkapat
Tan Khuay Salakkapat (Buddhist rite dedicated to the dead)
Every year during the season of Buddhist Lent, Nan people perform a ritual of offering food and things to the monks, dedicating the merit to their dead relative and other spirits called  “ Tan Khuay Salakkapat “.
    Hok Peng Wai Phra That Chae Haeng
    The festival is on the full moon day around the end of February to early March. Locally-made rockets are lit as a rite to pay respect to the Lord Buddha.
      Kwang ( Hercules Beetle Fighting )
    The scarab beetle Xylotrupes Gideon ( L ) is known as " Kwang " in local vernacular. There are other species of scarabs which are also trained and used in fighting. Beetles with 2,3 and 5horns are subject to culture and training. Beetle fighting tradition started with the Lanna people in the north, hundreds of years ago when they observed male beetles fighting each other for supermacy during the mating and breeding season ( Aug.-Oct. ).

    Srong Nam ( Bathing rite ) Phra Chao Thong Thip
Phra Chao Thong Thip situated in Wat Suan Tan. The festival is held at Wat Suan Tan, during the Songkran festival on 12-15 April.
Namaskarn Phra That Khao Noi
This festival is organized on the full moon day around May. Locally made rockets are lit as a rite to pay respect to the Lord Buddha.
